I received a reply to the Denzel Washington article that I posted here on the pages of this blog and would like to make a statement.

It does not matter to me if he contributed enough monies to the Fisher House to build a new building or just enough to ease the financial burden for just one day. The fact is that when ever a member of Hollywood gets the media attention about the war in Iraq and Afghanistan it is always to criticize the President or cry on and on about how we need to get the TROOPS out.

The realization is this;
(1st) there is a war going on for the liberties and freedoms of another people half way around the world and sometimes it takes the brave men of the USA to stand up and fight for the weak, cowardly, and repressed people. I am proud to say that I am one of the Soldiers of this GREAT NATION who went to Iraq and Kuwait for the support of the war effort to give if not the whole country of Iraq freedom at least one poor soul. I applaud Mr. Washington for making his contribution to the health and welfare of the American Soldiers and would like to shake his hand for doing so. I am proud that he made the effort to support us.
(2ND) he could have just kept his checkbook in his pocket and only benefited himself.

I am not sending out a slap in the face to the poster in regard to this blog, all I am saying is that if he deserves a pat on the back for what he has done and if the facts are not 100 percent correct in the amount I am not liable for spreading any untruth I only passed on the story about a man whoever he is, doing a great deed and lending a helping hand.

It has finally came time for me to pack my stuff and leave this place. 4 hrs left here then off to customs and to a plane bound for the USA.

8 days and a wake up

Getting close to time for this little trip to the Land of Sand to come to an end. I say 8 days because that is the earliest that I will be able to go. I am a very optimistic person, I should be home pretty soon anyway. After being here this long what's a few more days.

I recieved this in an e-mail this morning and thought I would share it with everyone.

Lesson Number One

A crow was sitting on a tree, doing nothing all day. A small rabbit saw the crow, and asked him, "Can I also sit like you and do nothing all day long?" The crow answered: "Sure, why not." So, the rabbit sat on the ground below the crow, and rested. All of a sudden, a fox appeared, jumped on the rabbit and ate it.

Moral of the story is:
To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting very, very high up.

Lesson Number Two

A turkey was chatting with a bull. "I would love to be able to get to the top of that tree," sighed the turkey, "but I haven't got the energy." "Well, why don't you nibble on some of my droppings?" replied the bull. "They're packed with nutrients." The turkey pecked at a lump of dung and found that it actually gave him enough strength to reach the first branch of the tree. The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch. Finally after a fortnight, there he was proudly perched at the top of the tree. Soon he was promptly spotted by a farmer, who shot the turkey out of the tree.

Moral of the story:
Bullshit might get you to the top, but it won't keep you there.

Lesson Number Three

A little bird was flying south for the winter. It was so cold, the bird froze and fell to the ground in a large field. While it was lying there, a cow came by and dropped some dung on it. As the frozen bird lay there in the pile of cow dung, it began to realize how warm it was. The dung was actually thawing him out! He lay there all warm and happy, and soon began to sing for joy. A passing cat heard the bird singing and came to investigate. Following the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung, and promptly dug him out and ate him!

The morals of this story are:
(1) Not everyone who drops shit on you is your enemy.
(2) Not everyone who gets you out of shit is your friend.
(3) And when you're in deep shit, keep your mouth shut

The Media Missed this one!!!!

Denzel Washington, at Brooks Army Medical CenterDon't know whether you heard about this but Denzel Washington and his family visited the troops at Brook Army Medical Center, in San Antonio,Texas (BAMC) the other day. This is where soldiers who have been evacuated from Germany come to be hospitalized in the UnitedStates, especially burn victims. There are some buildings there called Fisher Houses. The Fisher House is a Hotel where soldiers' families can stay, for little or no charge, while their soldier is staying in the Hospital. BAMC has quite a few of these houses on base, but as you can imagine, they are almost filled most of the time.While Denzel Washington was visiting BAMC, they gave him a tour of one of the Fisher Houses. He asked how much one of them would cost to build. He took his checkbook out and wrote a check for the full amount right thereon the spot. The soldiers overseas were amazed to hear this story and want to get the word out to the American public, because it warmed their hearts to hear it. The question I have is why does:Alec Baldwin,Madonna, Sean Penn and other Hollywood types make front page news with their anti-everything America trash and Denzel Washington's Patriotism doesn't even make page 3 in the Metro section of any newspaper except the Local newspaper in San Antonio.

It feels good to have folks from home reply to this site and say kind things and give best wishes to a guy stuck half-way around the world. I will be in McComb in the next month or so, so a steak sounds great, oh yeah my golf game sucked before coming over here so I know I will be a menace to any golf course I attempt to play when I get home. I have connections to that area of the state that run pretty deep, my wife grew up there. Plus, I have made so really good friends from there as well. I am sure that we will meet in person before too long.

The last few days the STARS AND STRIPES Middle East edition has ran two articles from The Associated Press about Mississippi. By the Way, not stuff to be proud of either. The first I saw said we had continued to lead the way as the most obese state in the Nation. The second said we have the highest level of poverty and lowest median household income with $32,938.00 and no, Hurricane Katrina did not effect these numbers.
Just a month or so ago I also saw an article about how we (Mississippi) is one of the least educated states, #49 of 50 accoriding to the www.morganquitno.com/edrank05.htm education state rankings 2005 - 2006, Arizona is the only state dumber than us. Help me understand that, how can we be so low on these polls. Is it the same as the news enterviews after a tornado hits, do they find someone who honestly is arguing with the guy at the door of Wal-Mart about the no shirt, no shoes policy or are we really this dumb on a whole. Look at the people on the links I placed at the top there with the names of famous Mississippians. Look at the writers. Go to the 4/16/06 post to the Mississippi facts and first. How can we score so low. The good news is that Alabama and California are not to much better of than us but hey they still scored better than we did. Arkansas #37, COME ON!!!!

Well, as far as being fat, I can say it's because we have the best food in the world in the South, especially Mississippi has the best of all that is food. As far as being broke, I will make my UN-educated guess as to the fact that Hollywood and the media as a whole have convinced the rest of the world that we Mississippians are all dumb, redneck, racist. This is why I enjoy putting Mississippians on my blog that have very much so sculpted the world rather or not anyone realizes that they are from Mississippi or not.

Kinda sorta around here. My debute as global weatherman.

So I'm at the Scientific Center of Kuwait over the weekend, I love aquarium and such. This was the second time that I have been able to visit and it just keeps getting better. This time they had different animals that you could handle. You know, the normal stuff. Snakes, lizards, roaches, sea urchins, star fish and a hawk. This was cool for me. I have never handled a hawk before. The bad thing is that the bird had been shot and it's right wing had been destroyed. Even so, It was awesome.

Well after going home for a couple of weeks I am back in Kuwait for the last few months now. I hope that time seems to slip right on by. I ran into my boss in the DFW airport he had been home on leave before I had left. Seems that he had a little trouble with his appendex and it had to go.

We got laid over in Budapest Hungary, little problem with the windshield of the plane not wanting to stay in at 35,000 ft. Thank God I slept through that. All I knew was that my ears hurt like Hell. Tylenol PM is the best thing for long flights, really.

GRANDE MOSQUE TOUR

The Imir's family room. The chandelier is actually 24k gold and crystal. Hand made and the one directly in front of the camera is about 145,000.00US$, according to the director of the Mosque. It takes one full week to clean and put back together. The cleaning is done by hand using a special cleaner and wipes.

The main prayer area of the Mosque is somewhat shown here, it is so large I couldn't get all of it in the photo. It holds over 5,000 worshipers. The girls in the ninja suits are with us. By Mosque rule the women must be covered and everyone is barefoot.

Hand carved and painted. I cant remember what this is called but it serves a purpose and has a story that I do remember. In the old days the Mosque served as school for the children and the teachers sat inside these areas and their voices projected straight out to the students and all could hear without the teacher ever having to raise their voice to be heard. It really works. We all got in a whispered and it sounded just like leaning over and talking in someone's ear.

The main room again. This Mosque can hold up to about 60,000 people at one time.

This place is unreal. All the wood is hand carved and hand painted. Everything you see in these pics was done by a true craftsman. Amazing how large and beautiful this place really is. I wish that my camera did better in large dark places like this, but these photos are the best I could do.

Without a doubt one of the most patriotic human beings on the planet. This was the second time I have had the opportunity to see Lee in concert and by far the best and most patriotic I have seen. He played the show with the band Restless Heart and the Air Force Reserve Band, the New England Patriots cheerleaders performed also.

Well the 5th of May is here and we have no Corona to pass around. Maybe I will just eat a lime and think about Mexico for a minute or so. Viva La Cerveza.

HISTORY LESSON OF THE DAY
Well, lets see. Mexico owed money to Spain, England, and France who demanded repayment. Debt to the U.S. was settled after the Mexican-American War, So we walked out with pesos in our pockets.
France wants their money but but decided to claim Mexico for their own with their own leadership, seems Napoleon had a cousin Archduke Maximilian of Austria, who was unemployed at the moment and needed a job, so the French decided that he could run Mexico. Spain and England noticed that France was getting cocky and wanted to overthrowing the Mexican Govt so they got out of the picture.
EMPIRE EXPANSION:
Now Mexico said "hey screw you guys" and quit paying the money back that they owed France. French leadership must have had a little to much brandy or something because they sent 6,500 troops to take down the Mexican Army. France's march toward Mexico City started at Veracruz. U.S. President Lincoln couldn't help because at the time he had his own war to fight at home with the North and South.
Well, Mexican Patriots under the command of Gen. Ignacio Zaragoza Sequin took limited supplies and poor equiptment and defeated the marching French wino's. 4,500 Mexicans against 6,500 well equipped French soldiers.
This really made Napoleon Mad so after getting the news that his troops had been beaten by a RAG TAG Band of Army patriots he sent 30,000 more to get the job done.
Now Max is finale the leader of Mexico. Like other Austrian involved with Empire Expansion his reign was short, 1864-1867.
The GREATEST NATION IN THE WORLD located just North of Mexico and Due South of Canada had just finished up with its own conflict and could offer some assistance to the Mexicans political and militarily. With this help the Mexicans once again took back there country and they drug Maximilian out in the streets and filled his French ass with bullets.

And bringing this story to an end,
Cinco De Mayo honors the bravery and victory of Gen Zaragoza's small, outnumbered militia at the Battle of Puebla in 1862, and gives us the Americans a day to eat Tacos and drink Cerveza.

Adopted in 1894.
The committee to design a State Flag was appointed by legislative action February 7, 1894, and provided that the flag reported by the committee should become the official flag. The committee recommended for the flag "one with width two-thirds of its length; with the union square, in width two-thirds of the width of the flag; the ground of the union to be red and a broad blue saltier thereon, bordered with white and emblazoned with thirteen (13) mullets or five-pointed stars, corresponding with the number of the original States of the Union; the field to be divided into three bars of equal width, the upper one blue, the center one white, and the lower one extending the whole length of the flag.
Representative Timothy Alan Ford, 18th District and Speaker of the Mississippi House of Representatives, introduced House Bill 524 to provide for a statewide special election to choose a design for the Mississippi State Flag. Well as you would expect, the Stars and Bars of the of the Mississippi are causing a stir over here. But, with a little fortitude and oh yeah balls don't hurt either, the flag will fly as long as we are here. There are two Mississippi units here and the fire dept here is ran by Mississippi firemen from Meridian, all civilian.
I hear that there is a petition to rename Jeff Davis College. How bout we sign a petition to forget history and heritage all together and have nothing to learn from, about, or be proud of. Without knowledge of the past we are doomed to repeat it good or bad.

What a shame, the two's and fews are making all the rules for the masses now.
I wish more politions had balls and would stand up for the majority instead of a couple of nuts from California and the Hollywood Communist Party.

Who knew? Actually, this is one of the better HRC I've been to food wise anyway. Best sweet tea in town. The staff are very nice and all not from here either, just like me. The HRC sits facing the Arabian Gulf on 3 sides. It also is one of the most western places in this country, along with Ruby Tuesdays, TGIF Fridays, Chilies, Burger King, McDonald's, KFC, Hardees, and all of that other great western semi-fast food. Not every country likes us or our policies, but Mickey D's is welcome with open arms world wide. Taking over one cheese burger at a time.

Welcome to Kuwait

These are the most recognizable landmarks in the whole country and are really beautiful to see and tour. The large tower on the right is an observation tower and restaurant. The tower on the left is an actual water tower and the spike in the middle is a light stand to illuminate the towers.

Well it's been coming for a long time. I can now keep up with everyone all at once. All you need to do is check every few days and there will be a new post until they (the Army) decide that we cant do this anymore. But, I will put pictures and notes on here and let everybody see and know what's up.
